- SUMMARY OF COMMANDS
-
-
- ADD
- Selecting ADD on the main menu will put you in Add Mode.
- From Add Mode you can enter the data and save it when finished.
- To save the data press [^ENTER]. This means hold down the CONTROL
- key and press ENTER. The Add Mode is used for initializing a record
- to the database. Any future changes to the record would be
- accomplished by choosing MODIFY from the Main Menu.
-
- BROWSE
-
- Once you have selected a record by using the full screen BROWSER or
- by selecting SEARCH from the Main Menu, Browse-Current will allow
- you to view an entire record including the notes. Press the F10 key to
- view the notes field. No changes can be made to a record while you
- are in the Browse Mode. The record is protected from any accidental
- changes while viewing the record.
-
- DELETE
- Once you have selected a record by using SEARCH from the
- Main Menu, Delete will allow you to remove the displayed
- record from the database. Once you have selected Delete,
- a window will appear and will give you a chance to change your mind
- prior to deleting the record. The window is set to default to
- NO to prevent accidental deletion of a record. CAUTION once a record
- is deleted it can't be recovered.
-
- MODIFY
- Once you have selected a record by using SEARCH from the
- Main Menu, Modify will allow you to alter or add to an
- existing record. This is the only mode where revisions can be
- made to an existing record.
- Once the revisions are made, pressing [^ENTER] (This is done by
- holding down the CONTROL key and pressing the ENTER key at the
- same time) will save the record and any changes made.
-
- SEARCH
- When you select Search from the Main Menu, a window will
- appear and ask for three search criterias, Last Name, First
- Name, and Record Year. When at all possible you should enter
- a response to all three. However, if you only have partial
- information to go by, Search will attempt to find a match
- based on the information given.
- Record Year will default to the current year if left blank.
- Therefore, when searching previous year records, it is important
- to understand that if the record does not exist in the year
- entered, it may very well exist under a different Record Year.
- Search is also used in conjunction with BROWSE,DELETE,
- MODIFY, and UPDATE. Each of these selections require you
- to Search a record prior to the use of these procedures.
-
- UPDATE
- Once you have selected a record using SEARCH,Update will
- advance all vital information to a new Record Year and create
- a new record. The old record will remain intact and a new record
- will be created including in it all information on the Main
- Screen and advancing all balances in the Vacation, Sick
- Leave, and Compensation screens.
- Update will save you the work of transferring all the data
- from the previous year in order to begin a new Record Year.
- This feature will also allow you to accumulate a multi-year
- database for future reference.
- Once you select Update from the Main Menu a window will
- appear asking for the Record Year. Enter the new record
- year and press ENTER, the record will be updated and added to
- the database.
-
- PRINT
- Selecting Print on the Main Menu will give you three
- choices of reports to print. Print A Record, Print A
- Roster, and All Records.
- The first choice Print A Record, will print a single record
- of your choosing.
- The second choice Print A Roster, will print an alphabetical
- listing of all records in a particular record year.
- The third choice All Records, will print out all records for
- a particular record year, using the same format used when
- selecting Print A Record.
-
- MAIN SCREEN
- Most of features of the Main Screen need no explanation.
- However, it should be pointed out that the Record Year field
- will default to the current year unless otherwise entered.
-

- The Evaluation Screen needs little explanation. The fields are
- for entering any information you wish concerning an evaluation
- made during any of the twelve months during the year.

- that calculates all vacation earned and subtracts all vacation
- used to arrive at a total available vacation time. This total
- is the figure advanced when using UPDATE for a new record
- year.

- of the record being viewed.
- The fifth area, Record Year, shows the record year being
- viewed.
-
- MEMO
- Memo is the area of the record in which you can enter any
- information of your choosing. It can consist of dates of
- vacations, or just a note for future reference.
- Notes can be added while in either of two modes, ADD or
- MODIFY. From either of these modes, you can enter notes by
- pressing F10. After pressing F10 a Notes screen will
- appear for you to enter your data. Each record is limited to
- approximately one screen of notes. A status line at the bottom
- of the MEMO box lets you know when the Buffer is full. To exit
- the MEMO box simply press ESC. You will be returned to the field
- that you were on prior to adding notes.
